Abstract
We studied the clinical effectiveness of a second generation cephalosporin, cefamandole
nafate(Mancef¢ç) on 30 patients with respiratory infection. Cefamandole was administered in daily dose of 3-4g N, divided into equal parts, according to the results of preclinical and open clinical studies of the drugs.
A clinical response rate of 93.3% was achieved with cefamandole in treating the patients
with respiratory tract infections, without severe adverse reactions. Skin rash, chest tightness, leukopenia occured in one patient of the cefamandole treated patients.
The results demonstrated that cefamandole was useful in treating respiratory tract infections such as mild to severe acute bronchitis or pneumonia.
